Why did the Chicken cross the road? To join a campaign on Parliament Square to protect the welfare of laying hens. Dozens of constituents emailed to ask that I supported this campaign. It was a pleasure to visit Parliament Square on Wednesday morning for their campaign to ban the use of cages.

On Tuesday I spoke in Parliament about how rehabilitation and preventing repeat offending must be central to our criminal justice system. Rehabilitation and education is how we stop our prisons becoming revolving doors for reoffenders.

It was a pleasure to deliver the Juniper Awards' Overall Apprentice of the Year at the Grand Palace last Friday. Juniper do brilliant work to give young people training and it is great to celebrate the hard work of the young people they work with.

Last Saturday I went to the Taste of the Caribbean food festival at West Park in Wolverhampton West. I spoke to the SUIT team who had a stall at the event. The food was excellent, and I am delighted to see the hard work of organisers pay off with a brilliant event.
