Congratulations to The Story of Emily in Liskeard for receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 32nd Annual Thea Awards across the pond in Florida!

During the debate of the King’s Speech this week, I made it clear that we must ensure our digital defence is as well prepared as our physical capabilities. In South East Cornwall, we have a deep understanding of the importance of defence.

Some group discussions I’ve held recently: ✅ SEND Roundtable – engaged with parents and education professionals ✅ Bus Roundtable – brought together bus companies and local people ✅ Treledan Town Hall – concerns about the proposed decision to appoint FirstPort to manage the Barratt Homes phase

I was glad to attend a Tamar Crossings Spring Summit, which brought together MPs, councillors and officials from Cornwall and Devon. Our focus was on cheaper tolls for local people and how transport improvements can benefit communities and boost economic growth across the Tamar.

St Sampson's near Callington and The Zone in Downderry have both received a share of the government’s £2 million national funding pot. We have some fantastic community groups in our area, so it’s great that these organisations have been recognised for all they do to support local people.

Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy is a lack of oxygen to a baby’s brain during or shortly after birth and affects 3-4 babies out of every 1,000. Peeps offer peer support and counselling to create a network around those affected. I encourage everyone in South East Cornwall to spread the word.

The River Fowey at Lostwithiel has been designated as an official bathing water site ahead of this summer. Thank you to everyone who's been involved, responded to the consultation, and worked so hard to make this happen, especially Cllr Sarah Preece and the Lostwithiel Environment Action Forum.

In Parliament, I raised my concerns about the funding for estuary crossings. As a result, I secured a meeting with the Minister responsible, and I look forward to working with all the local and national stakeholders on this issue.
